As much as I love to cook, I like to find ways to make crafts and activities with my son. Quarantining at home is our new norm, so we’ve somewhat adjusted and have been doing fun activities with what we have at home.
I want to be able to share and educate about the Filipino culture and food is what brings us together. So now that it’s summer time, I wanted to highlight a Filipino favorite dessert called Halo Halo! It means “mix mix” in the Filipino language. It’s basically shaved ice and a sundae combined! You get to customize your Halo Halo to your liking.
A few of my favorite combos:
– top with Ube ice cream
– add leche flan
– coco de nato (coconut jelly)
– extra condense milk!
My son and I did a fun craft using colored paper we had home and some craft fluff. You can also use cotton balls, pillow stuffing. Basically any piece of paper, tissue paper you have at home…you can use!
The fluff is used as your “shaved ice” and “ube ice cream”! Use what you have to mimic this! So fun!
