I started testing new recipes in the kitchen during this time of the pandemic we are experiencing. We had rotisserie chicken from Costco in the fridge and I wanted to reuse it somehow. So I checked what other ingredients I had in the fridge that can be used to reuse leftover chicken.
I came up with Chicken Sisig! Yes..sisig with chicken! Changing it up a bit and made it healthier! Have you had sisig with other protein? I’ve actually made it with tofu and fish…REALLY GOOD!
So what is sisig? Sisig was first mentioned in a Kapampangan dictionary in the 17th century meaning “to snack on something sour”. You usually see sisig on a sizzling plate and a side of rice. SO GOOD!

Easy Chicken Sisig Ingredients: - Chicken cut into cubes. I used rotisserie chicken and just cut it up. I would use thigh fillets for this - 1 whole red onion, minced - garlic, minced - 1/2 cup of soy sauce - 1/2 cup of calamansi (or to taste) - 1 tsp fish sauce - pinch of pepper Directions: - Saute garlic and red onion until it sweats - add the chicken and mix. If you are cooking your chicken saute both sides to make sure it's cooked before adding the rest of the ingredients - add soy sauce and calamansi juice. mix and taste - add fish sauce for more flavor - pinch of pepper - taste and add more to your liking
I added kewpie and a soft boiled egg. And it was SOO GOOD! YUMMM!
