I’ve been lucky to work from home at least once a week. So I have a few tips and tricks I want to share that will help my working from home parents during this pandemic!
I’m sharing my top 6 tips on how to work from home and still keep a work/life balance. I’ve tweaked it a bit now that both parents are now at home with both kids. It has been really hard, but we are getting through this together. Most of the time I find myself not getting as much work done because the kids need me and keep distracting me! But these tips have definitely are good reminders for myself!
Set Boundaries: Setting your work hours is important and you need to communicate that with your team. Also, blocking time in your calendar allows you to get tasks done and people can check to see if you are “busy” or not. I do this since I’m still nursing and was pumping at work. I block times so no one can schedule meetings and know I’m busy. I also block time so I can finish projects and concentrate more.
To Do List: Every morning, write down what you want to get done that day. These should be anything that is important or urgent.
Get Up & Move: Don’t forget to stand up and stretch. I find myself getting into the zone and before I know it, it’s already 5p. Go for a walk, get fresh air. Just move your body!
Work Space Can Be Anywhere: I used to designate a work space that I ocasionally use. Now that the kids are home, I find myself bringing my laptop with me to the playroom, the dining room, the living room. Multi-tasking at its finest!
Do a Personal Task: Taking a break from work is ok. I try to do a household chore like the laundry, clean a room, cook, etc.
Hydrate/Eat: Your health is important so don’t forget to drink water and eat. I keep a huge water bottle with me so I can drink my daily dose of water!
